The Truth.

AYO!

I'm pissed about my first post.
But I won't delete it because it's my first one.

First of all, I must have been on some obsessedwithmyface crack.
Could I have more pictures of myself? Lord Almighty.
Then I realized I'm just obsessed with capturing moments, and most moments have been alone.
Soooo. Yeah.

My first blog was almost always the truth.
Blatant, raw truth.
And that's just how I am.

I don't know if I have a filter somewhere inside me, but I have to pep talk myself before social situations where I can't just say what's in my head all the time.
It scares people.

My point is: fuck my last post for being vague.
You come to Sass because I'm real and because I'm pretty fucking amazing.
So I'm going to fill you in.
Otherwise, I can't be myself, and that's too important to me.

A major detail I wasn't honest about in my last blog was that Tony and I were not in a healthy relationship.
A major factor in my anxiety and depression was our relationship.
I didn't see it at the time.

I won't get into the dirty details, but we've both admitted that we could have done things differently.
He could have been different in our marriage, and I could have been different about the way that I ended our marriage.

We divorced at the end of last year.
I'll give you a minute to let that soak in.
.
.
.
.
.
.

I initiated the divorce and moved out last September.
I wish I could say it was a civil split, but it was not.
The best way I can explain it?
With every word that hurt me, every fight that tore me down, every criticism and demand that suppressed me....I slowly disconnected from him emotionally.
I knew this but didn't know how to fix it.
Eventually, my heart was just dead inside.
I knew what I had to do but didn't want to do it.

He was blindsided.
I thought he knew that we were just barely hanging on.
His feelings and actions didn't match up.
As I'm starting to stitch up my wounds, he is still bleeding.
He's in ICU, actually.
I'm trying to help him cope while still hanging on myself.

Don't misunderstand- I loved and still care about Tony.
I always will.
But it was time.

It was an incredibly hard decision.
Do I stay and make it work so I can have my girls?
Do I wait ten years until Lainy graduates from high school?
Do I shut up and stay committed because I said I would?
Or...
Do I break my own heart and 3 others because I feel like its the right thing to do for me?
Either path was breaking my own heart.
I still feel selfish for being in a better place right now.
My heart is joyful, but eyes show pain.

I deeply miss what I thought my life was going to be.
I miss my sweet Sophia telling me about her day while I cooked dinner.
I miss Lainy asking me to read her one more book at bedtime.
I miss the way they stopped and listened to my stories about things I did when I was their age.
I miss Josie's puppy dance when she came inside from the snow.
I miss the way I felt in Greece when I dreamt of my future with the people I loved most.

I get lost in those thoughts. Dreaming of them.
And then I blink back to reality and I'm alone.
I will forever have an empty place in my heart.
I know it won't ever be filled except with the memories I will not let myself forget.
I look back in love, not hurt because it's gone.
Those memories and feelings were real.
And I won't let them fade away or be tainted by what has happened.

I probably won't write about this much.
I may be stitching up, but it doesn't take much to open up those wounds again.
I'm getting there.
I know there will be questions, but I won't answer them on here.
You can email me for that.

That's all I care to share for now.
I'm taking it one day at a time.
Sometimes one hour at a time.

Lyrics by Florence + the Machine drift into my mind when I start to ache:
It's always darkest before the dawn.

Much love.
XO,
Sass

Welcome bitches!
ROCKER SASS IN DA CLUBBBBB

I missed y'all.
Thank you for all the emails and messages of support and love.
Again, I am astounded by your kindness.
We live in a beautiful world.

Sass 2.0 is in full force.
I really am a new version of myself.
I've learned more about me than I ever thought possible.
I always loved me, but now I feel connected.
My mind, body and soul are all learning to work together instead of against each other.
I'm one jacked up chick.
I used to be scared shitless to have a daughter like me.
BUT then I stopped being a negative nincompoop and realized I am the only one who could guide her.

Which is why I'm currently writing a book!
It contains all the advice I wish I would have taken and the things I wish someone would have told me when I was in my teens.
The past doesn't define you, but it does create the path the soles of your shoes must walk.
Only you can change that path, and it can't happen overnight.
And if you're not careful, you can create a path of quicksand. Or lava.
Or like legos and marbles and toothpicks or something.

It takes practice and self-discipline and patience.
All things I hate, but have learned to appreciate.
More on that later.

For now, I'll catch you up via my iPhone pictures.
They're all incredibly random.
And out of order because I am getting used to the new Blogger uploader thingy (which is way easier! Blogger got behind on the times.)
And they are mostly of me.
I have some with others, but I'm not ready to bare all the details just yet.

This was Monday night.
I've been doing some MAC face shots.
So much fun, free makeup, and a creative outlet for me.
And relaxing.
This was the final product.
I love it.

This was the first day of 2012.
A fresh start.
Remember these little sweeties?
Holding and playing and singing and babbling with them heals all wounds.
They're almost 8 months!
This is a picture my sister sent me on my second day of work.
Seriously! I melt.
Big news! I had my first Waffle House experience.
Dirty good.
Cheesy grits to die for. Bangin waffles. And eggs cooked in bacon grease.
Sass heaven.
Last weekend.
60 degrees.
Playing outside.

Same day...having a lil photoshoot.
I like to practice my faces for real photoshoots.
And I liked the Forever XXI shades I found when cleaning my car.
And I discovered Instagram which is why many of these have effects.
Love.
Sooooo I got another tattoo.
This one is cooler, though.
A little H for my last name.
Something no one can take from me.
Something I was born into.
Something I'm proud of.
Behold the H.

Pierce!
I did a photoshoot showcasing this ridiculously expensive handmade necklace made of bones.
This naturally dirty Nordic look is ROCKIN.
If I could live somewhere where this is accepted I would go immediately.
More of the photo shoot.

I made an impromptu trip to NYC for the sole purpose of seeing the Rockafeller Christmas tree.
It's as magical as I had hoped it would be.
The nightlife was ILL!
And that's me on the plane ride home. Glad I went.
On the subway like a boss.

BFF in San Diego Jeanie came to town for Christmas!
Not sure why I'm wearing my brother's head thingy.
One mystery of many.

He came out with us that night.
I wish this picture had better quality.
I'll have to figure that out.

The uggs I got for Xmas!
So this is the bulldog puppy I had for two weeks.
His name is Hamlet.
He blends into my bed.

This one slipped in. Not one of my brighter days.
Halloween monkeys!
Ham had lots of health issues.
Roly poly tongue.

Loves clean laundry.

Little dude.
Had two many health issues.
I couldn't afford him.
I had to give him back to the breeder.
Heartbreak.
I don't have Josie anymore.
I tried to distract myself from missing her, but nothing can ever fill that hole in my heart.
Heartbreak.
My favorites.

Blaine's smile kills me! Tongue out and everything.

Sleepy monkey.
The snoozin racoon.

My favorite boys.
Pierce has his arm around Blaine!

That's all for now dear kittens.
That sort of caught you up.
And that's kind of how my life has been.
Out of order.
Days blend into the next.
My shattered heart breaking into smaller pieces.
But I'll let those shattered pieces grind themselves into glitter and sprinkle them on the new heart that is growing inside me.
So I never forget the mistakes I've made.
I'll never forget where I've been.
But I'll never let it stop me from where I'm going.

Sky's the limit.

XOXOXO
